A 50-year-old motorist was critically injured Thursday morning in a west Omaha traffic accident during heavy snow and slick road conditions.
The accident occurred about 9:30 a.m. just west of 180th Street and West Dodge Road in the westbound lanes of West Dodge.
Omaha police said a semitrailer truck driven by Marty West, 35, of Honey Creek, Iowa, had broken down in the right hand traffic lane. A westbound 1999 Ford Ranger pickup truck driven by Gerianne Neneman, 50, of Omaha crashed into the rear of the semi..
Neneman, the only occupant of the pickup, was taken to Creighton University Medical Center suffering from a broken pelvis and a broken wrist. Police said her injuries were not considered life-threatening. West was not injured.
Neneman was pinned in her vehicle and had to be cut free.
Authorities closed two lanes of westbound West Dodge Road while tending to the accident scene.
Police said the crash remains under investigation.
In a separate crash about 11:40 a.m., a man who was injured at Interstate 80 and I Street was taken to CUMC in serious condition.
The man was injured when his pickup truck also struck a semitrailer truck near the I Street on-ramp.
