A man was hospitalized Wednesday after he was shot in the leg in the parking lot at Omaha's Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
The VA said that a weapon discharged about 11:30 a.m. and that VA police found the wounded man soon after.
Preliminary 911 reports indicated that the shooting was self-inflicted.
Will Ackerman, a VA spokesman, declined to comment on whether it was accidental.
No one else was hurt and the VA campus is safe, Ackerman said.
The victim's condition was not released.
Omaha police said the investigation was being handled by VA police.
The medical center is at 42nd Street and Woolworth Avenue.
