Uncle Maddio's Pizza is coming to Omaha.
The chain restaurant is known for serving pizza in less than six minutes for $6.99. The menu includes made-to-order pizza, along with salads and sandwiches.
Owner Shawn Simmonds is an Omaha native, and his father, Mike, developed and operated more than 70 Burger King, Taco John's and Jimmy John's locations in both Nebraska and Iowa. Father and son will work together to open the Uncle Maddio's Pizza restaurants.
Diners can choose from close to 50 toppings at the restaurant. Toppings include local vegetables, vegan cheese and gluten-free crust.
Uncle Maddio's has more than 150 locations around the nation, and this will be the first in the Midwest. The Omaha restaurant is the first of six planned locations, which will also be in Bellevue and Lincoln.
In July, the Simmondses announced a franchise agreement with fast-casual restaurant chain Pie Five Pizza Co. that would have brought six locations to Omaha and Lincoln. On Tuesday, Shawn Simmonds said the pair "are no longer affiliated with Pie Five" but declined to comment further on the switch to Uncle Maddio's.
