A search is on for the upper Midwest’s most innovative entrepreneurs.

Ernst and Young LLP is calling for nominations for the 28th annual entrepreneur of the year awards. The deadline for nominating someone from Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota is March 14.

The June 11 regional awards gala in Minneapolis is to be followed up by the national gala hosted in November by Jay Leno in Palm Springs, Calif.

Each year Ernst and Young showcases successful entrepreneurs from more than 150 cities in 60 countries. Last year’s upper Midwest regional award winners included Doug Nielsen, co-founder and chief executive officer of Omaha-based Hayneedle.

Winners are selected in a number of industry categories by a panel of judges. People can nominate themselves or offer nominations. More information can be found here.
