The Sarpy County Chamber of Commerce is nearing the final stages of finding a permanent president.
The chamber’s previous president, Wendy Richey, resigned from the position in October to attend to a family matter. She is now a corporate liaison for The Firm, a brokerage that handles the sale of businesses.
For the last month, Sarpy County Chamber of Commerce officials have been recruiting and conducting interviews.
“We’re in the final stages of the interview process,” said Scott Buchholz, the chairman of the chamber’s board of directors. “We’re, hopefully, a couple weeks away from having a permanent president in the position,”
Since Richey’s resignation, Karen Gibler has been serving as interim president. She was the chamber’s director of sponsorships.
“During the transition period, we wanted to have some continuity in place within the chamber staff,” Buchholz said. “Karen seemed to have a lot of experience and has done a good job in the interim period.”
