The University of Nebraska Medical Center’s Science Cafe will explore the science of bipolar disorder at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Slowdown, 729 N. 14th St. The event is free and open to those 21 and older.
Science Cafes involve a scientist giving a brief presentation about a current science topic, followed by a question and answer period.
This time, geriatric psychiatrist Steven Wengel will discuss symptoms, treatment and coping with bipolar disorder. Wengel is chairman of UNMC’s psychiatry department.
The Med Center is also sponsoring the Omaha Community Playhouse’s production of “Next to Normal,” a musical about a family coping with bipolar disorder. It opens Friday.
