Bank of Nebraska completed its annual Teddy Bear Drive.
The bank, at 923 Galvin Road S., collects new or slightly used teddy bears for distribution to the Bellevue police and fire departments.
Dan Pojar and Joe Milos, representing the police department, picked up several bags of teddy bears on Friday.
“We’ve done this for several years. They’ve got quite a collection,” said Diana Porter, branch manager.
The departments give the bears to children they encounter during emergency calls. The bears have a calming influence on children, especially during stressful encounters.
“Even non-customers enjoy giving something to help out the community,” Porter said. “It’s nice to give them something, especially the kids.”
