Omaha Public Power District board member Anne McGuire has filed for re-election.
A new state law splits OPPD territory into eight districts, and McGuire is running for the seat for newly created Subdivision 2, which covers southeast Omaha.
Previously, the board's 13-county territory was divided into four regions. Five board members were elected at-large from a district that covered the eastern half of Douglas County.
“I am confident that I am the best person to tackle the many challenges the district will face,” McGuire said in a press release. “I am an active, fully engaged director, ready to ask questions and challenge management.”
The four-term board member will run in the May 13 primary against Jeff Lux, a deputy Douglas County attorney, and LaVerne Thraen, who has run unsuccessfully in the past.
The top two vote-getters will advance to the general election this fall.
