Douglas County Assessor Roger Morrissey has filed to run for the newly combined office of assessor and register of deeds. He is seeking a fifth term.
Among the accomplishment that Morrissey cited from his 15-year tenure: computerizing property records, launching a new website and increasing training for appraisers in his office.
“I am confident I can bring the same leadership and efficiency to the Register of Deeds office that I have demonstrated as assessor,” he said in a press release.
He said his campaign has about $86,000 cash on hand.
Douglas County Register of Deeds Diane Battiato has also said that she will run for the office, although she hasn’t filed yet.
