The UNO men's basketball will open the new year at 11 p.m. Friday with a game at Hawaii.
The Rainbow Warriors have won their last three games and are 10-3 overall. Christian Standhardinger, a transfer from Nebraska, leads Hawaii with averages of 18.4 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Garrett Nevels (13.8 points per game), Isaac Fotu (12.5) and Brandon Spearman (11.6) are also averaging double figures in scoring.
The Mavs have won seven of their last eight games, with the only loss during that span coming at Minnesota. CJ Carter leads the Mavs in scoring with 15.1 points per game. John Karhoff averages 13.6 points per game, and is coming off a career-high 28 points against Central Arkansas on Dec. 28.
