Our New Year’s entertainment resolutions

1. Eat at more of Omaha’s amazing restaurants.

We vow to get more cold fried chicken sandwiches at Big Mama’s, eat more $11 pasta at Avoli Osteria and go out for special nights on the town at the Flatiron Cafe, The Grey Plume and J. Coco, among other fantastic options. Forks at the ready!

2. Hear more from Omaha’s music scene.

We’re loving the great national acts coming through town, but we can’t take for granted the local acts that play every day. We vow to rock out to a cover band at The Loose Moose or Two Fine Irishman and take in original tunes at Barley Street Tavern and Venue 51.

3. Hit the Holland, the Orpheum, the Playhouse and other stages around town.

The quality of theater and classical music has never been higher in Omaha, and we vow to enjoy it. We hope to see Itzakh Perlman at the Holland, André Watts with the Symphony, “Next to Normal” at the Playhouse and “War Horse” at the Orpheum.

4. Get out to more of Omaha’s bars.

We vow to order fancy cocktails at The Boiler Room and on-tap Champagne at The Homy Inn, drink bloody marys at Krug Park and shake it to the DJ at House of Loom. Bottoms up!
