CHRISTMAS
Shatel: Time to open up the holiday wish list

A Christmas wish list, for the naughty, nice and occasionally both:

» Bo Pelini: A win over Georgia in the Gator Bowl. That's all. That's enough.

» Doug McDermott: Get taken in the NBA draft by a playoff team he can help right away. How about Golden State or Oklahoma City? Not the Clippers. Come on, it's Christmas.

» Dean Blais: A National Collegiate Hockey Conference championship in the first season.

» NCHC media who picked UNO last: Christmas cards from Dean Blais.

» Ameer Abdullah: A healthy, All-America season — at Nebraska.

» Kenny Bell: A chance to sit down right there on the 40-yard line, under the lights, and soak in the victory — at the Rose Bowl.

» Jordan Hooper: Cut down the nets at Pinnacle Bank Arena, after winning an NCAA regional.

» Grant Gibbs: Get drafted by Celtics coach Brad Stevens — to work on his coaching staff.

» Martie Cordaro: A nice blue frame for that minor league executive of the year honor.

» Jim Delany: A winning bowl record against the SEC. Not that anyone's counting.

» Darin Erstad: A Big Ten tournament championship, before 17,000 Husker fans in downtown Omaha.

» Derrin Hansen: Dana Altman calls and says he needs a trip back to Omaha, so he'd be happy to bring his Oregon Ducks to open UNO's arena in 2015.

» Shawn Eichorst: New stationary.

» Greg McDermott: Rebounds, blocked shots and a Big East regular-season or tournament title.

» Creighton fans: A happy New Year's Eve.

» Packers fans: A win over Chicago.

» Bears fans: A win over Green Bay.

» Cubs fans: A Blackhawks championship shirt.

» Peyton Manning: One more Super Bowl.

» Chiefs fans: Andy Reid decides to put the playoffs on Jamaal Charles' back.

» Iowa State fans: Sneak past Oklahoma State and Kansas to the Big 12 hoops title.

» Iowa fans: A win in the Outback Bowl. It's still football season.

» Creighton and Nebraska volleyball fans: A Huskers-Jays match in 2014.

» Jack Hoffman: A year to be a normal, fun-loving, wide-eyed kid in Atkinson, Neb.

» Ryan Walters: Lots of fish for opposing goalies to scoop out of the net.

» Big East fans: At least five teams in the NCAA tournament.

» Merchants in the Haymarket and Old Market: Some Saturday basketball games.

» College World Series fans: The new ball, this year.

» Ed Servais: Good weather in the Big East.

» UNO baseball fans: More games at Werner Park.

» Rhonda Revelle: A couple seven-inning wins in the CWS.

» Lancers fans: A win over Tri-City on Friday for “Motto McLean Appreciation Night.” A good way to get the second half going.

» Paul Griego and all of the patrons at Pauli's, my favorite Omaha sports bar: Memories. And, yes, a Cubs World Series.

» To All: A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Sports Year.
