An Oklahoma man who drove to Bellevue to pick up a 14-year-old girl he met online has been sentenced to federal prison.
Dennis Lewis, 43, was convicted of transporting a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity. U.S. District Judge Joseph F. Bataillion sentenced Lewis on Wednesday to 10 years in prison.
According to federal records, Lewis met the Bellevue girl online last year. The online conversations between the two grew increasingly sexual in nature and included exchanges of explicit photos, authorities said.
Lewis drove from his home in Tulsa to Bellevue in April. The two returned to Oklahoma, where Tulsa police arrested Lewis before any sexual activity took place, authorities said.
