'Twas the nightlife events listing before Christmas
By Andrea Kszystyniak / World-Herald staff writer

The week of Christmas can be a slow one. But just because the party scene slows down doesn't mean you have to. Check out a few of these:

Borgata Brewery and Distillery in the Old Market will host an Ugly Sweater Christmas Party tonight. Throw on your worst and indulge in some hot chocolate and eggnog cocktails starting at 7 p.m. The 13th Street Brickhouse, 2202 S. 13th St., will also celebrate ugly sweaters on Saturday at 9 p.m with DJ Jim Morrison. The owners of the three ugliest sweaters will win a prize.

Pageturner's Lounge, 5004 Dodge St., will host Holiday Carol-oke tonight at 7 p.m. Dan McCarthy and Family will be playing festive tunes for you to sing along.

Leavenworth Bar, 4556 Leavenworth St., will host a toy drive and stocking decorating from 1 to 7 p.m. on Sunday. Stop in, grab a drink and get to crafting.

Unwrap the funk at The Hideout, 320 S. 72nd St., on Christmas night. Celebrate the one-year anniversary of Linear Symmetry, enjoy some music and pay $5 for access to a keg. Doors open at 10 p.m., and the show starts at 10:30 p.m. The Hideout will also host comedian Dan St. Germain and the last show put on by the Collabo Comedy collective on Friday at 9 p.m.

Get your dance on at The French Bulldog, 5003 Underwood Ave. The Dundee restaurant will host DJ Butterhips for a night of dancing and tons of meat, starting at 10 p.m. on Friday.

Head down to Lincoln for a celebration of the Winter Solstice at Vega, 350 Canopy St., Suite 220, Lincoln. Resplendent Jezebel Burlesque will perform starting at 9 p.m on Saturday. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door.

If you'd rather stay in Omaha, House of Loom, 1012 S. 10th St., will be having its own celebration of the Winter Solstice on Saturday night. Brent Crampton will DJ, and there will be live percussion and other performances starting at 8 p.m.

In Benson, Barley Street Tavern, 2735 N. 62nd St., will host an X-Mas Showcase with Jeremy Mercy, Heather Berney, John Klemmensen and more. The show starts up at 9 p.m. on Friday night with $5 tickets.
