The building that housed sports bar Pauli's is officially no more. The space, located near the intersection of 40th and Leavenworth Streets, is being demolished. It was purchased by the University of Nebraska Medical Center on Sept. 30.

Pauli's was known for its beer garden, which drew thousands during the College World Series. ESPN commentators and baseball superfans spent plenty of time tossing back brews post-game at the venue, which closed in Nov. 2011.

Regular Pauli's customers John Steichen and Dave Eckley purchased the bar from Pauli's owner, Paul Griego, and reopened the bar as The Recovery Room in early 2012. That bar closed in May.

The space where Pauli's once stood will become a parking lot for UNMC employees, according to Tom O'Connor, media relations spokesperson for UNMC. People will be able to park there as early as January. The lot has room for roughly 40 stalls.

Movie review: 'Transcendence' ends up quite ordinary

“Transcendence,” a sci-fi thriller about an attempt to meld the human mind with technology, falls far short of transcendence. So far short I had to fight off sleep.
