A new salon is bringing the national blowout trend to Omaha for women in need of more good hair days.
The salon, however, is not seeking to replace your regular haircut and color stylist. Lark, which is expected to open Dec. 18 at 11979 Blondo St., will exclusively offer blow-dry styling.
When traveling internationally for her job with Valmont Industries, Sara Slimp said she’d always get a blowout on her way back into the United States. Blow-dry salons have popped up in various cities nationally, including the DryBar chain, which has locations across the country in New York City, Texas, Arizona and California. Slimp wanted to bring a similar experience to Omaha, so she opened Lark.
“A blow-dry studio, for me, takes the best of the salon and boils it down to the really fun part: the celebration and special events,” Slimp said.
The salon will offer a variety of different styling options — sleek and straight, surfer wavy, super volume or bouncy curls, to name a few — using the heat of blow dryers. Styles, which include a wash and blow dry totaling about 50 minutes, are $40 across the board. The salon also will offer monthly membership packages and will sell Bumble and Bumble hair products.
Appointments are preferred, Slimp said, but the salon aims to be flexible and will be able to accommodate appointments and special requests on short notice. “If you’ve got that hot date, we’ll take care of you,” Slimp said. She expects to hire at least 20 stylists to staff the salon.
Lark will host a grand-opening reception Dec. 17 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. featuring drinks and some of the best blowout styles for 2014.
