The Lauter Tun will close its doors at the end of the month.
The bar and music venue posted on its Facebook page last night that it would be calling it quits. The bar's last day of business will be Dec. 29. It first opened at 3309 Oakview Drive, Suite 102, in November 2011.
The bar's managing owners, Chris Acker and Chad Rozniecki, along with a handful of other investing owners, decided to close when the business never started making any money.
“The income is not matching the expenses,” Acker said. “None of the investors or owners were making anything at all.”
Acker said word of mouth didn't spread fast enough. Tons and tons of people love the place, he said, but those people only come once every three months.
“We kept it going to keep the dream and all that together, but there comes a point where you just can't do that,” Acker said. “The great music, the great people, the great beers and cocktails, all that's great, but it can only last so long.”
The business is for sale through the next three weeks. The bar's annual Festivus celebration will go on as planned on Dec. 23.
