Omaha police say a 24-year-old man suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound Sunday afternoon near North 56th Street and Ames Avenue.
Police responded to a radio call about 12:40 p.m. to investigate shots fired in the area. While officers were en route, Douglas County 911 emergency dispatchers told them that an injured man was on his way to Immanuel Medical Center in a private vehicle.
The officers' investigation found that Deonte Thomas was at a filing station near North 56th and Ames Avenue with another person when a man approached and shot at them. The gunman ran to the south, crossing Ames Avenue.
