A power outage left about 3,700 Douglas County residents without power for up to an hour and 45 minutes Monday. Most of the outages were confined to northwest Omaha, from West Maple Road to Nicholas Street between 126th to 144th Streets and from Meredith Avenue to Blondo Street from 126th Plaza to 150th Ave. Omaha Public Power District officials concluded that the outage was not related to cold but to an equipment failure at a substation. Omaha police were investigating Monday to determine whether several accidents in the area of 130th Street and West Maple Road were related to the outage and malfunctioning traffic lights.
