Slips and falls:
The thin glaze of ice on steps and sidewalks sent nearly two dozen people to Omaha-area emergency rooms Wednesday morning.
Jodi Hoatson, spokeswoman for Alegent Creighton Health, said metro-area emergency departments had seen about 20 patients who had fallen. The injuries ranged from ankle fractures to head injuries, she said.
Taylor Wilson of the Nebraska Medical Center said three people came into that hospital's emergency room.
Without a doubt, others sought help from local urgent care facilities.
Unlike with the light wintry mix that occurred a little more than a week ago, no fatal traffic accidents were reported Wednesday. The earlier storm claimed four lives in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa.
