Papillion commission OK's development near ballpark
The first development outside Werner Park has taken a step forward.
A movie theater, entertainment center and retirement village could be the ballpark's first neighbors.
The Papillion Planning Commission recommended approval of a final plat for a portion of the Pennant Place development.
In early October, Drafthouse Cinema and Entertainment Center announced plans to build on 9 acres.
Roger Langpaul, the Pennant Place developer, filed plans for the 60-acre site northwest of 120th Street and Highway 370.
The Planning Commission also endorsed plans from the Good Samaritan Society, which owns 30 acres east of Werner Park near 126th Street.
The organization, which has retirement communities and nursing facilities across 26 states, is looking into a mixture of independent homes and apartments for the area.
