Omaha police officers pursued a man by car and on foot early Saturday and eventually took him into custody.
The pursuit was preceded by a Shotspotter detection of gunfire about 3 a.m. near 4100 N. 23rd St., police said.
Officers spotted a blue Toyota Corolla traveling south from 24th and Sprague Streets. When they caught up to that vehicle, it sped away and police declared a pursuit. The pursuit reached 50 mph.
The car stopped at 18th and Clark Streets and the driver ran away. He was arrested near 1800 N. 18th St.
Robert McDonald, 29, was arrested on suspicion of felony flight to avoid arrest, reckless driving, driving under suspension and obstructing an officer.
Officer James Shade said it was not clear if McDonald was involved in the firing of shots that prompted the incident.
