BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Cal State Bakersfield outscored UNO 11-6 over the final 3½ minutes to defeat the Mavs 69-65 on Saturday.
UNO (3-3) led 59-58 when Ericka House hit a 3-pointer with 3:44 to play.
Tyonna Outland, who led the Roadrunners with 25 points, scored five points over the final stretch to lead Cal State Bakersfield (2-3) to the win.
UNO’s Taijhe Kelly scored a career-high 15 points and had seven rebounds in her return to her home state. House also had 15 points.
UNO trailed by as many as eight early in the first half but rallied with a 23-11 run to take a 32-28 halftime lead.
After House hit a 3-pointer and Mikaela Shaw followed with a layup to put UNO ahead 47-43, the Roadrunners went on an 8-0 run to retake a four-point lead with 10:24 left.
The Mavs again battled back for a 56-52 lead on a layup by Kelly with 6:08 to play.
With the game tied at 60, Outland hit a 3-pointer to give Bakersfield the lead. She then converted a layup with 2:08 left to make it 65-60.
Down 68-65, the Mavs had the ball with less than 30 seconds to play but misfired on two shots. The Roadrunners added a free throw with six seconds left.
Cal State Bakersfield outrebounded UNO 42-34 and used 17 offensive rebounds to score 11 second-chance points.
UNO’s Shaw added 13 points and five rebounds, and Lanese Bough had eight rebounds. Madi Robson dished out eight assists.
UNO visits Long Beach State at 4 p.m. Sunday.
