Council Bluffs was recognized as one of the nation's 50 most affordable suburbs by a national real estate blog.
Movoto Real Estate, of San Mateo, Calif., ranked each city by cost of living, which factored in costs for housing, food, utilities and property and state income taxes.
Council Bluffs came in 31st place, and it was joined by other adjoining cities to Omaha.
Mayor Tom Hanafan said the showing was indicative of a bolstering metro area. Council Bluffs — the only Iowa city listed — fell 10 spots behind Bellevue, which was tied at 21st with La Vergne, Tenn. Papillion ranked 33rd.
Hanafan said the listings signified that residents are more likely to remain in the Council Bluffs-Omaha metro area.
