Open Table diners favor Flatiron Cafe
Omaha's Flatiron Cafe made the Open Table Diners' Choice list of best American restaurants.
The annual list of winners is based on more than 5 million restaurant reviews submitted by Open Table diners.

Craft food earns nod for French Bulldog
The French Bulldog's charcuterie is a finalist in the 2014 Good Food Awards, a contest meant to honor the country's best craft food.
The Bulldog's Hungarian salami and Juniper salami will move forward in the contest as finalists in the charcuterie category. The contest also includes categories for beer, cheese, chocolate, coffee, confections, oils, pickles, preserves and spirits.
Winners will earn the Good Food Awards seal, which assures customers they've found “something exceptionally delicious that also supports sustainability and social good.”
This is the fourth year for the awards. The French Bulldog is in Dundee, at 5003 Underwood Ave.
Hall of Fame gets six new members
The Omaha Hospitality Hall of Fame recently inducted its 2013 members.
This year's inductees are the late Yano Caniglia of Royal Boy and Mister C's; the late Paul Dougherty of Dougherty Brokerage Co.; Nicole Jesse of LaCasa Pizzaria; Robert Mancuso of Mid-America Expositions Inc.; Anthony O. Messineo Jr. of Valentino's Pizza, Premier Catering and Amazing Pizza Machine; and Jeff Snow of Catering Creations.
The induction ceremony took place Oct. 20 at the Institute for the Culinary Arts at Metropolitan Community College. More than 250 people attended.
The Hall of Fame is a collaborative endeavor of the Omaha Restaurant Association and the culinary institute. The Hall of Fame celebrates the achievements of the best in the Omaha area food and restaurant industry and raises scholarship funds for culinary and hospitality students at the institute.
