Nebraska Crossing app won't be ready until Black Friday

The developers of Nebraska Crossing Outlets have promised visitors a “mobile-first” shopping experience.

But a mobile app that will send store updates and promotional alerts to your mobile device won't be ready Friday when the mall opens.

The app is scheduled to launch by Nov. 29, “Black Friday,” mall developer Rod Yates said. The free app, which is expected to be called “NEX,” will be available for iPhone and Android devices on iTunes and Google Play. It will feature a “smart parking” function that will direct you to an available parking space.

While you'll have to find your own parking spot, some new technology will be available Friday, however. The shopping center's large touch-screen kiosks and digital display signs are operational.

The shopping center's digital platform is powered by CenturyLink's ultrafast 1-gigabit broadband service.
