In an exclusive interview with Fox's Jay Glazer, Miami Dolphins offensive lineman and former Husker Richie Incognito answered questions about the recent developments around the Jonathan Martin situation.
Incognito was suspended by the Dolphins for conduct detrimental to the team following a complaint filed by Martin, a fellow lineman. The Associated Press reported that Incognito sent Martin text messages that were racist and threatening. Martin has taken a leave of absence from the team to pursue treatment for emotional distress.
In the interview, Incognito showed some remorse.
"I've taken stuff too far. I did not intend to hurt him," Incognito said, adding that the text messages making rounds in the media are taken "out of context."
The Pro Bowler said he received messages from Martin that would seem equally disturbing when taken out of context.
"A week before this went down, Jonathan Martin texted me on my phone, 'I will murder your whole (expletive) family,' " Incognito said. "Now did I think Jonathan Martin was going to murder my family? Not one bit."
