Months ahead of schedule, the Hyatt Place in the Old Market is open for business.
The 159-room hotel at 12th and Jackson Streets is the Hyatt chain’s first in Nebraska.
Thirty-five associates were hired to work at the nearly 260,000-square-foot property that stretches 10 stories high.
A parking structure takes up floors 2 through 5 and guest rooms are on upper levels. Food including soup, sandwiches, desserts and coffee is available around the clock for guests to order. Rooms include 42-inch flat panel TVs and other amenities.
Earlier predictions called for a 2014 opening. The Hyatt Place comes to the site after a failed 2007 plan by a different hotel developer. That project languished through the recession as the developer was unable to secure financing. Hyatt later stepped in with its own plans for the $23.6 million project.
