The chairman of the MECA board on Tuesday welcomed his group's newest member to "the most talked-about board in the city."
Jay Noddle, a prominent Omaha developer, was appointed to the Metropolitan Entertainment and Convention Authority board last week by a 6-1 vote of the Omaha City Council. Noddle attended his first board meeting Tuesday morning.
Noddle replaces Jamie Gutierrez Mora, who resigned in September after questions were raised about her eligibility to serve on the board.
Board chairman John Lund told Noddle he expects the developer will be a good fit for the group, which oversees the CenturyLink Center, TD Ameritrade Park and the Civic Auditorium.
"You bring a lot of business and civic and leadership roles, and you'll be an ambassador to MECA," Lund said.
The board's next meeting is Jan. 21.
