Bellevue Councilwoman Carol Blood said Sunday she would seek to run next year for a seat in the Nebraska Legislature.
Blood will be a candidate for the District 3 seat held until last month by Republican Scott Price of Bellevue, who resigned.
Gov. Dave Heineman will select an interim replacement to serve until Jan. 6, 2015, in the officially nonpartisan Legislature.
Blood, a registered Democrat, said she would submit an application to be considered for the appointment, but will run for a full term in November 2014 whether or not Heineman chooses her. She has served since 2008 as the at-large representative on the City Council.
The district includes Capehart and parts of Bellevue west of U.S. Highway 75.
