Thieves traded a tow chain for an ATM early Wednesday during a break-in at the Douglas County Treasurer’s Office near 50th and G Streets.
Police officers were called to the building at 4202 S. 50th St. shortly after 3 a.m. to investigate an alarm. They found that a plate-glass window on the west side of the building had been smashed.
An inspection revealed that an ATM machine was missing but a tow chain was left at the scene, according to a police report.
The ATM had an unknown amount of cash inside and is valued at $2,000. The window is valued at approximately $1,000.
