Vala's, Rockbrook Village to host Halloween fun runs

Take your costume out for a test run this weekend at a Halloween-themed 5K.

The Monster Mash is Sunday. The 5K and 1-mile event encourages participants to wear the costumes as they take to the course at Rockbrook Village, near 108th Street and West Center Road.

Organizers are expecting about 350 people.

There will be healthy snacks, not candy, available for free after the run, including Subway sandwiches and fruit. Kids can take advantage of the face painting and balloon artist at the event.

Adults can sign up for $32 and kids can sign up for $17 online through Saturday. You can also sign up in person the day of the event.

Proceeds will benefit the Children's Hospital & Medical Center's childhood obesity prevention program and Rotary International's polio eradication program.

The 5K is $35. The Little Goblins Run for kids is $15. Race admission includes a day pass into the pumpkin patch.
