Six municipal water tanks in Nebraska are among nearly 200 entries competing in the annual Tank of the Year contest sponsored by Tnemec Company.
The company provides high-performance coatings. This year's nominations include tanks from Bertrand, Creighton, Dorchester, Lincoln, Lyman and Randolph.
Finalists will be selected by the public, who can vote for their choice on the company's website.
Voting will be open through Friday, Oct. 18. During this time voters can go to the website, pick their favorite tank, and then track the results.
Each person can vote once. Those keeping track will be able to see who the front-runners are at any point during the contest by revisiting the site.
Once voting has been closed, the 12 tanks with the highest number of votes will each be assigned a featured month in Tnemec's 2014 water tank calendar.
From those top 12 tanks, the official winner of Tank of the Year will also be awarded and placed in the January page of the calendar.
All votes must be in by Oct. 18. After this time has passed Tnemec will announce the 12 semifinalists and the official tank of the year.
The winner will be announced in early November and calendars will be made available by December.
