Flu shots available free for area VA patrons

Veterans can receive a free flu vaccination at their nearest VA health care facility. Veterans must be enrolled in the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System to be eligible.

Veterans are encouraged to receive their flu vaccination during their regularly scheduled appointments in the primary care, mental health and specialty clinics.

Walk-in flu shot clinics are available Monday through Nov. 22 (unless otherwise noted) at VA facilities during these dates and times:

VA Medical Center, 4101 Woolworth Ave. in Omaha. The clinic is near the Blue Clinic in the main lobby area. 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; and 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 19 and Nov. 9.

VA Clinic, 2201 N. Broadwell Ave. in Grand Island, Neb. Available through primary care clinics 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday.

VA Clinic, 600 S. 70th St. in Lincoln. Clinic is in the Canteen in the lower level. 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays through Oct. 25; and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Oct. 19 and Oct. 26 in the primary care clinics.

VA Clinic, 600 E. Francis, Suite 3, North Platte, Neb. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

VA Clinic, 2501 Capehart Road (Ehrling Bergquist, lower level) in Bellevue. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

VA Clinic, 710 S. 13th St. in Norfolk, Neb. Veterans can call for an appointment or get a walk-in flu shot from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Veterans are encouraged to walk in after 1 p.m. for faster service.

VA Clinic, 1118 Burlington St. in Holdrege, Neb. 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

VA Clinic, 512 S. Fremont in Shenandoah, Iowa. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

VA Clinic through Avera St. Anthony's Outreach Clinic, 555. E. John St. in O'Neill, Neb. 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

Note: Walk-in flu clinics will not be available when the VA outpatient clinics are closed for federal holidays.
