Louie King knows firsthand how cancer can affect families.
The owner of Fitness Kings Personal Training and Nutrition Center near 28th Street and Capehart Road in Bellevue lost his father to cancer when he was just a toddler.
So he's giving back to cancer research by donating drop-in fees at his gym this week to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, which is being held Oct. 6 at CenturyLink Center in downtown Omaha.
Through Saturday, King will donate 100 percent of the all $5 drop-in fees for all of the gym's classes such as Zumba and R.I.P.P.E.D, which is similar to a high-intensity boot-camp class. He is also offering two, 1-hour training sessions for $20. All of those proceeds will also be donated to cancer research.
King said it was a no-brainer for him to get involved.
"Cancer affects everybody," he said, "When my dad was sick, research was limited. Now with technology, anything is possible."
