UNO athletic boosters got one of the first looks at plans for the school's new $87.9 million on-campus arena.
A video and three-dimensional model of the arena planned for 67th and Center Streets were among the highlights of Thursday's Maverick Kick-Off, an event that marks the start of The One Fund campaign, UNO's annual fund for athletics.
The arena, planned for 7,500 seats, will serve as the home to the Mavs' hockey, men's and women's basketball and volleyball programs. It will also be available for community events.
The video is available on UNO's athletic website, omavs.com.
More than 300 guests and members of the UNO athletic department, including coaches and student-athletes, heard from One Fund Campaign Co-Chairs Kathy and Gary Gates, Chancellor John Christensen and Athletic Director Trev Alberts.
Men's basketball coach Derrin Hansen and volleyball coach Rose Shires also spoke at the event, held at the Scott Conference Center on UNO's south campus.
The One Fund's fundraising goal for this year is $275,000.
