TD Ameritrade, an online broker for stock trading, long-term investing and retirement planning, opened its doors to a new, energy-sustainable building in Omaha's Old Mill area at 4211 S. 102nd St., on July 31.
With the opening of the new facility, there were several closures of smaller locations around the metro, including the former TD Ameritrade site located in the Southroads Park building at 1001 Fort Crook Road N.
Associates of the Southroads Park location were moved into the new building in phases, starting in April.
There were different people moving at different times.
Kim Hillyer, director of external communications at TD Ameritrade, said the new building now houses approximately 1,300 employees, while the Omaha campus as a whole holds 2,000 people.
The new building is a middle point, she said. With a number of TD Ameritrade employees living in the western reaches of Omaha and Sarpy County, Hillyer said the company felt the move to the Old Mill neighborhood was a localized point for everyone and has good access to the interstate.
She said it was better for the employees and the business to join together.
“We were outgrowing the locations,” Hillyer said. “We decided that one of the best things we can do for our company is to move together.”
