Do those vocal warm-ups, and keep on practicing “Rolling in the Deep” (or whatever else your favorite jam might be). You need to sound good if you're going to be on the next season of “American Idol.”
Omahans don't need to travel far and wide to audition for the singing competition show. On Sunday, crowds trying out for “American Idol” will take over the CenturyLink Center, one of seven auditions sites throughout the country. (It's also the last audition, and everyone's last chance to make the show's 13th season.)
What do you need to do in order to register and audition for “Idol's” producers and, hopefully, head to Hollywood? Find out below.
» Registration is the day before auditions. Registering as early as possible will help you go through auditions as early as possible the next day.
» Bring two forms of ID with proof of age and a photograph (say, a driver's license and a birth certificate). You may also bring one person with you to the audition, and they must be present during registration. Children under 5 years old will not be allowed at the audition.
» Auditioners must be U.S. citizens or permanent legal residents that were between 15 and 28 years old on May 16, 2013. Those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
» Overnight camping for registration or auditions is not allowed.
» Return to the venue by 5 a.m.
» Bring your wristband, seat ticket, two forms of ID, signed release and (if you're under 18) your parent or guardian. If you remove your wristband, it will be void.
» Auditions will begin about 8 a.m.
» Those who make it through the first and second rounds of open auditions will be asked to return.
» Because of time constraints, it's possible that everyone who registers will not be able to audition.
» Producers may walk the venue to pick out people based on style, look, performance, personality and “other factors.”
» You may bring a guitar. You must sing a capella first but may play a guitar if the producers ask you. No other instruments are allowed.
What can you bring?
» Banners, blankets, bottled water, cellphones, cameras, small bags, umbrellas, sunglasses, sunscreen.
What can't you bring?
» Video cameras, air mattresses, alcohol, drugs, weapons, animals, cans or bottles, coolers, chairs, luggage, tents, backpacks.
