Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine said on Friday that he will ask a judge to withhold bail for the doctor charged with four counts of first-degree murder.
Dr. Anthony J. Garcia is scheduled to appear in Douglas County Jail Court at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Garcia, 40, was booked into the Douglas County Jail at 5:32 p.m. Thursday.
Garcia's Illinois attorneys, Bob and Alison Motta, have hired Omaha criminal defense attorneys Dan Stockmann and Pat Dunn to assist them in court.
Garcia was extradited from the Jackson County Jail in Murphysboro, Ill.
An Indiana state trooper told The World-Herald on Thursday that about five Omaha detectives have been in Terre Haute, Ind., investigating the Garcia case since last week. Garcia lived in Terre Haute.
Sgt. Joe Watts, a spokesman for the Indiana State Patrol, said his troopers helped the Omaha officers by taking witness statements and getting them acclimated to the city.
Garcia was arrested early Monday in Illinois.
“What's most satisfying on our end,” Watts said, “is that we could help another police agency put an alleged killer behind bars.”
