LINCOLN (AP) — Authorities say a woman was killed Tuesday night in a traffic crash south of downtown.
The accident happened a little before 10:30 p.m. near 17th and Van Dorn Streets, authorities said, and it involved a Nissan minivan and a larger van, a Ford Econoline.
Lincoln police Capt. Michon Morrow said police received at least three reports before the crash from callers who said the bigger van was speeding and running red lights.
Joyce Meeks, the 47-year-old woman driving the Nissan, was pronounced dead at the scene. Morrow said the 35-year-old man driving the Ford was taken to a Lincoln hospital for treatment of injuries that didn't appear to be life-threatening.
The driver's name in the Ford hasn't been released. Morrow said they were alone in their vehicles.
The crash remained under investigation, Lincoln police said.
