Another Papillion-La Vista Public Schools administrator has taken a position with District 66, the Westside Community Schools.
Mark Weichel will become Westside's assistant superintendent of teaching and learning, Westside officials said. He will start July 1.
Weichel has served as Papillion-La Vista's director of secondary curriculum since 2010. He also has served as a director of curriculum, assistant principal and social studies teacher in Papillion-La Vista and as a principal in the Bellevue Public Schools. He will replace Sue Evanich, who has retired.
At Westside, Weichel will join Enid Schonewise, who starts July 1 as assistant superintendent of human resources. Schonewise has served as principal of Papillion-La Vista South High School since it opened in 2003.
Weichel and Schonewise worked together at Papillion-La Vista to create a nationally recognized system for teachers to collaborate, Westside officials said.
Weichel led planning to expand the district's off-campus zoo and hospital academies and to develop a two-year leadership academy and four-year science, technology, engineering and mathematics academy at both district high schools.
