Want to avoid the parking hassle at the CWS? Here's how

College World Series fans looking to ditch their cars during the event in downtown Omaha are in luck. People can rent a bike or park their own at designated stations near T.D. Ameritrade Park beginning Friday.

Those who ride their bike to the games can leave it with Omaha Bikes and Activate Omaha volunteers at the corral on Mike Fahey Street between 13th and 14th Streets. The volunteers will give cyclists a claim ticket that can be used to retrieve their bike.

The free valet service opens daily one hour before the first game and closes 30 minutes after the end of the last game.

Those without a bike can rent one from B-Cycle. The bike-share system installed two temporary stations downtown – one next to the valet bike corral and the other at 13th and Howard Streets – for public use during the CWS. Twenty bikes will be available to rent. Ask a volunteer at the station about reduced pricing.

The downtown stations will supplement the five permanent B-Cycle stations at Aksarben Village. Program director Ben Turner said B-Cycle is working toward expanding to downtown Omaha permanently.
