Are you that person who can fix anything? Do you regularly take something apart “just to see how it works” and then put it back in perfect working order? Does your idea of fun include troubleshooting electrical or electronic operations?
The Omaha World-Herald's manufacturing campus is one of the most automated, integrated in the country. We have over 140,000 square feet filled with electronic and mechanical gadgets ranging from the very simple to the extremely complex. It takes a skilled staff of technicians, machinists, engineers and operators to keep the facilities and the automation running smoothly and efficiently. And, if you're like those of us who are already lucky enough to work here, our hero is Tim “the Tool Man” Taylor – we're always trying to make things faster, stronger, safer, better!
A trade school or technical diploma is preferred but not required if you have hands-on experience. This is not an IT position so those who prefer to spend eight hours a day in front of a computer screen need not apply! On the other hand if you would like PLC, electronic motor controls, Allen Bradley, encoders, Siemens, VB, processors, schematics, solder and soldering iron to be in your every day vocabulary, our Technician position will be a perfect fit.
