CONCERT ANNOUNCEMENT

Stir Cove announces summer concert series
By Kevin Coffey
WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

Groove to some classic rock. Sing along to some country music. Rock out with some '90s idols.

That's the promise of the 10th season at Stir Concert Cove outside Harrah's Casino in Council Bluffs.

The venue announced 15 shows for its summer outdoor series and promised more to come. The concerts, as they stand, kick off with rock band Bush performing on May 24 and end with classic rockers Chicago on Aug. 30.

Classic rock gets more of a turn with Cheap Trick, Billy Idol, Alice Cooper, the Doobie Brothers and Chicago performing on different nights, as well as Peter Frampton and B.B. King performing together.

Indie folk rock bands — including Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, She & Him and The Avett Brothers — take up a few nights.

Two group shows will feature snapshots in time. LL Cool J with Ice Cube, Public Enemy and De La Soul will showcase '80s and '90s hip-hop. Meanwhile, Sugar Ray, Smash Mouth, Gin Blossoms and others will show off late-'90s rock.

This year, for the first time, Stir Cove will allow all-ages audiences. Previously you had to be 21 or older to attend.

Tickets for all of the concerts go on sale April 5 at 10 a.m. at www.ticketmaster.com and all Ticketmaster retail outlets. Find more information at www.stircove.com.
